Paper, Excel or tablet: choose by the job
A visible plan, a connected calculation or handwritten notes: choose the format that fits the way you will use it.
Start here: Choose the result first. A printable holds what you write; an Excel workbook calculates from your inputs; a linked tablet PDF gives handwriting a place and a route back.
Keep one plan where you will see it
Choose paper when the plan needs to stay visible: on a fridge, beside your desk or in a shared binder. Begin with one weekly page rather than printing every template. Write fixed appointments first, then choose a small number of tasks that fit around them. A visible sheet is useful only if you return to it.
For typed entries, use the separately named fillable PDF in a form-capable reader. Save a working copy, close it and reopen it to check the entries and text fit. Choose the PDF matching your paper size and test one page at actual size. Neither the print nor fillable file calculates costs or moves an unfinished task.
Let repeated records do the arithmetic
Choose Excel when a change should feed another result: servings into ingredient demand, stock movements into quantities, or task durations into an optional working-day schedule. Keep the supplied clean and fictional example files unchanged. Start with the example and follow one record before entering a full month of your own information.
For meals, distinguish ingredient consumption from whole packs bought. The Meal workbook uses recipes, dates, servings, entered pantry stock and pack sizes. A paper shopping list is simpler if you only need a place to write groceries. The workbook adds calculation, not live supermarket prices or an automatic pantry feed. Desktop spreadsheet software is required; native Excel verification remains pending.
Write on screen and follow a link back
Choose a tablet PDF when handwriting is part of how you think, and you already use an annotation app. Everyday connects weeks and days; Reading connects book references, notes and reviews. A PDF link changes the page, not the content of a note. Apps handle link mode, writing, saving and export differently.
Start with a ready-made PDF. Import a new copy into your chosen app, test one page link, write one short note, then close and reopen the copy. A supplied private editor can generate another empty PDF with different choices. Its JSON settings backup contains those choices, not handwriting or annotations. No specific annotation app has been verified here.
Choose one first result, then add detail
Try this decision: if the job is remember next week, start with a weekly paper page or an Everyday week. If it is calculate what to buy from planned meals, inspect the Meal workbook. If it is remember what a book made you think, inspect Reading. Adding formats makes sense only when each file has a separate job.
Products and purposeful sets do not synchronise. If you use a workbook for quantities and a paper list at the shop, carry only the final items you need, keep the date or reference, and check them against the source. Review the actual previews, included files and limits before choosing.
